WHY BRIDGES?
We chose bridges because they will situate us on top of a big highway where lots of people will see us. Visibility is key because it will bring more awareness, which is our goal! Also, because we will not be moving, it will make it a lot easier to be socially distanced and safe.
OUR GOAL
Black Lives Matter is still Bridges For Change main focus. Racial Inequity is a huge issue that our country has been facing forever and I want to be part of the solution. But after seeing how many people we reached in just three hours (15,000 cars) I wanted to bring awareness to other topics like sexual assault/women's rights, and the situation in ICE detention centers. These two issues are near and dear to my heart. And I want to bring awareness to them as well. If you want more info on how these two issues are intertwined with our mission of bringing awareness to Black Lives Matter go to the Logistics page. If you want to donate to the listed causes or learn more about any issue go to the How You Can Help page.
ABOUT ME, LIA SILVA, FOUNDER
Hello fellow activists, my name is Lia Silva. I live in Weston, Massachusetts and I am a rising 8th grade student at The Carroll School in Lincoln, Massachusetts. I am passionate about speaking up about change needed in our world and I am also interested in, the arts, cross country and track. George Floyd's death was a wake up reminder to me from an alarm that has been going off for decades. I could not stop thinking about the injustice going on and I wanted to do something about it. So I created Bridges For Change as a platform for me and hopefully for others to raise our voices about the inequity going on in our country.
